Description
The Nicollet Globe is a rare find in a decorative desk globe. This globe includes a large 16-inch diameter illuminated globe ball with a raised relief surface and dual map cartography.

There are very few desk globes of this size on the market which make such an impressive display. The numbered metal full-swing meridian mounting is the perfect combination with its beautiful teak hardwood base allowing a complete view of the globes' entire surface without having to pick it up.

In addition, the 2in1 map displays a political view when the illumination is off and a topographical view when on, showing the Earth in two different forms. This style is highlighted by the raised relief surface, which is small rises on the globe, indicating many mountains and mountain ranges.

A sturdy globe perfect for the office, classroom, and home. Thousands of up-to-date place names complemented by the blue ocean design. The Nicollet Globe features illumination with a cord that exits the south pole at the meridian with an easy inline switch to turn off and on.

This 16" globe is beautiful whether illuminated or not. I was impressed with the quality: the lines of longitude and the borders line up nicely at the only seam, which is the equator. The wooden stand is of excellent quality and decorative. The place names are easily read and the full swing meridian style makes it easy to study all parts of the globe without going through contortions. The only problem for me is the lack of capital cities for some West Indies Island Nations, Palau, Nauru, and the small European Nations like Liechtenstein, Andorra, and Luxembourg. This is probably due to limited space which is understandable. But the amount of information and detail otherwise is superb, and as best I could tell all the other capitals and countries are included on the globe. I'm really looking for a very similar globe with all the capitals and countries listed, so I guess it will have to be much bigger.
