Developed as part of the Earth Science Curriculum Project, the Globe Kit enables students to participate directly in Earth measurements, solving astronomy problems, and understanding seismology. Throughout the ages, people have proposed many strange, diverse theories about the earth. It was flat; its flat surface was encased in a huge half-globe to which the stars were attached; it was the center of the universe; these are just a few of the mistaken ideas people have held.

Our understanding of the earth and the skies today results from centuries of scientific study and discoveries and the invention of effective scientific tools to make possible and verify these findings. The Globe Kit is a working earth model that enables students to solve various problems in such broad topics as earth measurement, astronomy, and seismology.

It is a versatile tool to investigate many different science problems and should not be restricted merely to the investigations included in the manual. Kit contains an 8-inch diameter Earth globe, transparent hemispheres, internal Earth cone disk, flexible kilometer scale, and 8 protractors. Teachers Guide takes you through several activities. Recommended for Grades 6-12.
