Description
The Tactile Raised Relief Globe is a 12" desk globe with physical earth landmass shadings. Additional features include blue ocean styling, raised relief, and illumination. When illuminated, the light enhances the cartographic features. You will find many features that stand out and are easier to read when illuminated. Including exposing some cartographic features not seen when the illumination is off, such as country color coding. A true 2-in-1 cartographic globe.

The raised relief feature, which are small rises on the globe's surface that denote various mountain ranges, is a great addition. This globe includes a hardwood lens shaped base with a hardened plastic numbered semi-meridian indicating the number of degrees north or south of the equator a point of interest is located. Whether identifying places of travel or current events, the Tactile Raised Relief Globe makes an excellent decor piece for any home or office with clear &amp and easy-to-read cartography.

The light cord exits the globe at the attachment. This is located between the globe and the meridian at the south pole. An inline switch allows you to turn the globe on and off easily.

This globe is everything I had hoped for in a new globe. The internal lighting is a wonderful feature and is a big help in reading the smaller fonts. The coloring is vivid and it the meridian mechanism works well. I'm going to add some extra weight to the base just in case it gets bumped because even though the wood looks nice it is lightweight. My previous globe was smaller and though we had it for a long time it was prone to getting bumped and eventually got broken. The 12 inch size is ideal as it has much more information and I'm impressed with how well every thing matches up.

We bought the illuminated tactile raised relief globe as a Christmas gift for our 6 year old son. We are very pleased with the product and although new, he?s already spent a good amount of time with it. An extra special thank you to whomever came up with the idea to put it in a plastic bag and double box it for shipping. Although we have a dry box for deliveries, the lid got left open and the outside box was drenched. Thankfully there was backup packaging and the globe was unharmed!
