Description
Description
The map found on this 12″ diameter globe is a classic antique style with up-to-date named places and political boundaries. Also, you will discover raised relief, which is small rises on the globe's surface that, in most cases, indicate major mountain ranges found around the world. When illuminated, additional features appear, such as routes of major explorer expeditions and ocean floor features, such as mid-ocean trenches, seamounts, basins, and ridges.
The acrylic globe ball used for the Carlyle globe is vacuum formed and can be rotated left or right to view the globe's map.
When turned on, the lighting mechanism within the globe creates a warm glow that shines through. The hardwired cord measures approximately 66 inches and exits from the connection between the south pole and the meridian (not shown). The wire includes an inline switch for turning the light off and on, and replacing the light bulb when necessary is not difficult and is accomplished by removing the globe ball from the mounting to expose the light bulb housing. Instructions are included or can be made available from our customer support team.
