Description

The Athens Raised Relief Globe is a classic 12-inch diameter antique color decorative desk globe with all of the features. This well-designed globe with a raised relief surface features a political map that contains 1,000's of up to date place names and locations.

The stand is a stained hardwood lens base with a metal numbered semi-meridian. As with most illuminated globes, the cord exits from the south pole meridian connection and outfitted with an inline switch for smooth operation.

The raised relief feature on the Athens Raised Relief Globe is small rises in the surface of the globe, indicating mountain ranges. There are very few illuminated globes that feature this design, and this is one of them.

The globe is beautiful. I've wanted one for years and this meets my hopes. Print is readable, light is soft and friendly, love feelinig the mountains. Fun to follow the demarcated routes of ancient sea captains.

I have wished for an illuminated globe since I was a child. The library in my town had one in the children's room, and I was fascinated. This globe is absolutely beautiful, especially at night, when illuminated. The colors are nice but subtle, and the raised relief surface is helpful. Sturdy, attractive base and meridian.

I love the light color (not antique) of the oceans with lots of contrast with the land masses.
Also, the raised relief is impressive. I also wanted a wooden base and a globe not made in China.
